Netflix to Produce Second Original Turkish Series

Following on the success of The Protector (Hakan: Muhafız), Netflix is investing in new original Turkish content, with Atiye (The Gift) lated to come out next

Netflix’s first Turkish TV series, The Protector (Hakan: Muhafız) was released simultaneously in 190 countries, with subtitling and dubbing options in more than 20 languages.The series pulled in more than 10 million viewers during its first month, proving especially popular among viewers in Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Peru and Canada.   

The Protector is about the adventure of the character “Hakan” who is tasked with protecting Istanbul from an ancient enemy. Filmed entirely in Türkiye,  the series includes such historical and modern locations Istanbul's Hagia Sophia Museum, Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar, Büyükada, Eminönü and Şişli.

Filming, CGI and VFX for both series all done in Türkiye

Filming has begun on The Gift (Atiye), Netflix’s second original Turkish TV series. The series is about the mysterious life a woman named Atiye, who endeavors to discover the truth about her family and the meaning of love, pain, happiness, and hope hidden amid a world of symbols and secrets stretching from Istanbul to the ancient temple of Göbeklitepe. Filming takes place at a variety of sites across Türkiye, including Göbeklitepe, which was added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 2018, as well as İstanbul, Şanlıurfa, Adıyaman (Mount Nemrut), Gaziantep (home of Zeugma) and Nevşehir (Cappadocia).
