Turkish Cinema at the 72nd Berlin Film Festival!

Turkish Cinema is being promoted at the 72nd Berlin Film Festival this year.

At the 72nd Berlin Film Festival, where the festival section is organized physically, the "European Film Market" section is held online.

“Klondike” Film is in Panorama Selection

The movie "Klondike" to which was given the "Co-Production Support" by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and with which Maryna Er Gorbach won the "Best Director Award" at the Sundance Film Festival is also included in the Panorama selection of the festival which started today.

In the Panorama selection which will be opened with the screening of the new movie, Nobody's Hero, by Alain Guiraudie who is one of the important directors of European Cinema, also the movie "Love, Mark and Death" by director Cem Kaya notable for his documentary "Motor: Copy Culture and Popular Turkish Cinema" will meet the audience.

Another name to take part in the festival is director İlker Çatak at the Berlinale Co-Production Market with his film "Yellow Envelopes".

18 Films in the Main Competition

At the festival, Indian-American director M. Night Shyamalan will be the head of the jury for the main competition. At the festival, 18 films including new films by directors such as Francois Ozon, Claire Denis, Hong Sang-soo, Ulrich Seidl will compete for the Golden Bear award.

Turkish Cinema is Being Promoted

Within the context of the European Film Market section of the festival, Turkish films will be showcased in the international arena by introducing the newest and under development projects of Turkish cinema in the genres of feature films, short films and documentaries.

Co-production and project opportunities which have become very important in the cinema sector will also be discussed at the festival in order to transfer information and technology, access to local funding sources, create potential markets and develop promotional activities.

At the Berlin Film Festival, also the "Foreign Film Production Support" which came into force with the new cinema law will be presented to international filmmakers.
